These are probably the biggest problem on a SS. they twist with the force of the damper so the bottom sticks out and twist when up by the weight of the door on the rear mounted damper.
Showing original gas strut mounting, this proved too difficult for the actuaor to push so I mounted nearer the hinges and further down the inside.
I have fitted electric actuators with a 7 second raise time but still get the twist but it has meant I can do away with the latches and most of the electrics as it pulls down tight shut.
The relays are in the rear left cabin area and are radio opperated including the 4 buttons on the console which saves a lot of wiring.
